How big do you think this gap is? Zarbon got absolutely dominated.

The Daizenshuu entry of him being at 23k makes the most sense. It's not until after Vegeta's battle power is read as 24k that Dodoria and Zarbon comment on him being above their power, implying that they're not inferior to 22k. Kuririn also held some hope in Vegeta and Zarbon being able to take each other out, suggesting they were comparable. Zarbon's performance was mainly down to his rusty fighting skills from being complacent with his power, as well as perhaps a drop in shouki or yuuki from learning Vegeta killed Dodoria.

I find it hard to see Zarbon suffering from a loss of shouki/yuuki consideringhe had his transformation as backup.

Poor fighting skill was definitely a factor.

Zarbon didn't want to use his transformation unless absolutely necessary. Shouki loss could be supported with him being adamant that Vegeta couldn't have killed Dodoria or compete with him 1 V 1 until Vegeta proved him wrong. However, I'd agree with you that skill was likely the main factor when considering Vegeta already showed an impressive performance prior to Kuririn's statement about hoping those two would kill each other.

Zarbon is a shitty fighter who relies on sheer strength to power him through battles. Vegeta is a Saiyan and as per Piccolo's words, a 'fighting genius'.

Doesn't Vegeta also mention something to Dodoria or Zarbon about them having become complacent?

22.5-23k is where I always had Zarbon.

Hence why I mentioned his rusty skill as the biggest factor in my first post.

Well I didn't even see your first post so maybe I should pay attention a bit more next time. :CC
