Gear 5 or Awakening?

So I've just come across this recent SBS where Oda seems to imply that Luffy will achieve G5 to beat Kaido.

So if this is true, how would you feel about that? Personally I'd rather see him awaken his fruit which in turn might reduce the effects of G4. It seems absurd to me that Luffy will unlock another new form when he physically cannot cope with Gear 4. It would feel like too much of an asspull.

Could be Gear 5th will simply be his DF Awakening, considering there's not much more that could be added beyond combining all his previous powers without the stamina issues. I don't think Oda's answer in the SBS should be taken as concrete evidence yet, considering he jokes around with answers to some questions quite a lot and his answer here was very much a play on words.

Isn't this invisible type of gap Luffy's been training since his arrest like an evolved one? The same Rayleigh used to bounce back that elephant's attack and to which Luffy concluded would be ideal to break through Kaido's scales.

Also, Gear 4th is basically just a whole lot of Busoshoku Haki with elements of previous gears. If Ryuo is utilised in making him match the Yonko, it'll most likely be through unlocking Gear 5th/his Awakening.

Luffy's strongest G4 onslaught of attacks was only enough to make Kaido say that he was beginning to enjoy the fight, and he's seemingly still 100% fresh as he will begin fighting in his hybrid form. Unless Luffy magically develops Haki on the level of Roger/Prime Whitebeard, he needs more than what he's shown now.

I rather see awakening but hopefully it’s more than just turning everything around him into rubber.
