Gohan saying Trunks has the same chi as his father

Many people (myself included) always took it to mean they were similar in types, but not in size. However, Gohan said Trunks has the same chi. Definition of same according to the Oxford dictionary:

Identical; not different.
‘she was saying the same thing over and over’
‘I have never made the same mistake since’
‘I'm the same age as you are’
‘the very same people who practised all the rules are now the most sceptical’
with clause ‘he put on the same costume that he had worn in Ottawa’
‘she was still the same old Beth’

Then if Gohan was referring to just the type of chi, it wouln't match the definition of "the same". Same means exactly equal, and chi is something that operates both in the realm of type and quantity/size. If Gohan meant to say they were only = in type, then it would be better to use the world similar, which, according to the oxford dictionary, doesn't mean "exactly equal":

1- Having a resemblance in appearance, character, or quantity, without being identical.
‘a soft cheese similar to Brie’
‘northern India and similar areas’

Funnily enough, Goku described the weak ass Namekians as having a chi similar to Piccolo's... he didn't use the word same:

I take it as more identical. Remember, it would be hard for them to identify the difference of that level since it's beyond of their comprehension.

Good point. But didn't Trunks confidence on taking Freeza and telling him to power up directly contradict this? He's not the type of guy who underestimate his opponents after all.

I have this theory that Chi sensing works like vision: If two people are far away from you, you most likely will hage some trouble to say who's taller. Same with chi: If teo people are far stronger than you, it's hard to tell who's stronger for you. This theory has no proves though, except for proving Majin Vegeta >> Kid Gohan (Which i'm sitting on the fence right now btw).

It does prove where Gohan can't tell who is stronger between SSjin4 Goku and Omega Shenron but then that's non canon. :toei

Indeed, but it also prove that Majin Vegeta/Kid Gohan stuff as well. Vegeta was indeed stronger than Gohan and Piccolo had a hard time comparing it.

I think Trunks vs Cyborg Freeza already proves it, since even at full power Freeza was fodder to him.

Maybe Trunks knew Freeza needed some time to power up, so, the moment he started powering up, Trunks would attack him.
