Goku MSSJ (50%) >>> SSJG3 Trunks???

Well, when Goku left the Rosat, Vegeta asked him if he could beat Cell. After Goku witnessed Cell in his perfect form, he said he "probably" could not defeat him. So:

Perfect Cell >= Goku MSSJ

Trunks, surprised, said:

Trunks : "It's...that powerful?...I was afraid of that..."

This implies Trunks knew what Cell displayed earlier still was not close to his full power. So, in Trunks' mind:

Perfect Cell (estimated true power) >= Goku MSSJ (estimated true power) >>> Perfect Cell (warm up)


Even though, Goku's MSSJ (50%) power was able to impress everyone including Trunks, who even though that was his full power:

Based on Trunks' reaction towards Goku's MSSJ (50%) power, I'd say this surpassed even Trunks' estimations of Goku's full power. So, we have:


Goku MSSJ (50%) > Perfect Cell (estimated true power) >= Goku MSSJ (estimated true power) >>> Perfect Cell (warm up);


Based on this, I find a little hard to have Trunks SSJG3 > or = to 50% Goku, unless you have SSJG3 Trunks way, way stronger than warm up Cell, what is not implied.

I always had 50% Goku>Grade 3 Trunks.

I checked the sub version of the anime, and all Trunks said was:

He never said anything about "i-is that powerful"?

Maybe Viz altered the dialogue?

But that was Trunks after the Rosat? Anyway, Trunks after the Rosat already knew that what Goku displayed at Karin was not his full power.

He discovered Goku MSSJ (50%) was not his full power when he witnessed Goku and Piccolo's conversation. He probably thought Piccolo would be of use against Cell, but him being labeled of no use probably showed Trunks that 50% was not 100% Goku.

What's being debated is that according to Viz, Goku MSSJ (50%) should at least be >> warm up Cell. According to Viz, when Goku said he could not beat Cell, Trunks already knew Cell was not at full power earlier. Even so, Trunks was surprised with 50% Goku and did not suspect that was not his full power until Goku and Piccolo's conversation IMO.

But I'd like to know the Japanese line for what Trunks said. According to the anime, Trunks did not say "that powerful!!".

Trunks Super Saiyan Grade 3 can clearly be stronger than Goku 50%, his reaction to his power doesn't look like he's flat out blown away. He is completely aware of Grade 3's limitations in speed, and as long as Goku is 'somewhere' near his level at that transformation, than he knows he can go up against Perfect Cell much better than he did.
