This explains why he's adamant about fighting Super Boo while there are other alternatives available, better alternatives. Such as believing they had enough time to learn and perform fusion.

What are some rebuttals to this? I would surely like to hear some.

Tosh, i have more arguments for you to use. Before entering Buu's body, Goku had already used being reluctant to use SSJ3 as an excuse to
Vegeta. Also, in Buu's body, when he said ''Buu's stronger than us'', he made it sound as if himself and Vegeta are at the same tier, so he was
obviously referring to their SSJ2 forms.

Goku said he didn't use it against Vegeta because of the time issue. No such thing exists now that he's alive.

Goku said "stronger than either of us", which simply means he's stronger than the both of them regardless of what level they're at.

Anyway, Goku made it clear that reverting Boo down to Fat Boo is a must if they're going to win without fusion.

Goku: “Wait! Even though Boo has returned to normal a whole lot, we’re still simply no match for his strength! If we go outside like this, we’ll definitely be done in…!”

Just throwing that out there.

How does that signify they're equal? Vegeta wanted to leave and Goku made it clear that they can't because they can't beat Boo. They were together, so "we're" is perfectly normal to use in that context.
