There is much debate on this topic, because in the Anime when Cell tells his story to Piccolo about how he collected the Cells from the strongest Warriors in the Universe, an image of Trunks of the Future is shown killing Frieza and King Cold. At that time, Cell reported that he obtained Cells of Freezer, King Cold and that he had the opportunity to obtain the Cells of a Warrior named Trunks.

It seems interesting the theory, that would mean that there was another "Trunks of the Future" and that came to the Cell Line to inform the Z Warriors about the death of Goku and the Androids. That would mean that Goku on the Cell Line had survived the disease and that the Z Warriors had trained the same as on the Main Line. Even so, they would have been killed by the Androids.

But the big issue is here, on the Main Line, after Krillin commented that Goku will be surprised that Cell can do the Kamehameha. Cell is impressed that Goku did not die. That means that on the same date, in the Cell Line, Goku had a lot of dead time, therefore, Goku did not have the medicine in that Timeline.

Later when Cell escapes from Piccolo, he sees Vegeta SSJ flying. Cell comments surprised that Vegeta has not been killed by the Androids. It is also surprising that Vegeta has become so powerful. Which means that at that time in the Cell Line, he had been killed by the Androids and that Vegeta was not that strong.

Cell was not surprised to see Piccolo and Krillin alive, which means that in the Future and Cell Trunks Lines, Vegeta was the first to die.

Some have told me that Cell did not know how strong Vegeta was in his Line when he had been killed. My question is, how could Cell learn that Vegeta was killed by the Androids and know that the others were killed later, if Cell did not even see Vegeta's battle against the Androids? It just does not make any sense. Cell in his Timeline saw how Vegeta was killed by the Androids and years later, Cell was surprised at how powerful Vegeta SSJ (Arc Android) was.

In short, both in the Cell Line and the Trunks Line of the Future. Goku died due to his heart disease. Vegeta was the first to be killed by the Androids.

If he had traveled a Future Trunks to the Cell Line, Goku would not have died for his heart disease and Vegeta would have been just as powerful as in the Android Arc.

Surely the images of Trunks killing Freezer and King Cold in the story that Cell tells, were recycled images. Some ask, then why did not they show better images of Trunks of the Future when big? The answer is simple, they did not have any images of him yet. The TV special of the Warriors of the Future came out a long time after the Chapter in which Cell tells his story to Piccolo.

As for Goku dying anyway, it doesn't do much to prove Goku was the one who killed Freeza and Cold, since Goku could have died for other reasons on Cell's timeline, such as being murdered by the androids. Remember that there doesn't seem to be a time traveler Cell in Cell's timeline, so the events would have unfolded differently there due to the absence of Cell, with Goku and Vegeta apparently being dead.

I'd also like to point out that Cell didn't show surprise at Piccolo and Kuririn being alive at that time... does it mean Piccolo and Kuririn were killed later? We see in the Toyotaro's special chapter that Piccolo and Kuririn appears to die at the same time Vegeta died, with the DBs turning into stone right after granting Pilaf's wish on Future Trunks' timeline... wouldn't that then mean that Future Trunks' timeline is different from Cell's timeline, as in FT's timeline Kuririn and Piccolo apparently die in the same time frame Vegeta did?

As for Vegeta, it just means that Vegeta was underestimated in every timeline. They had data on Goku and the others that were also off in the main timeline. Cell could have learned of Vegeta's death while searching for the androids.

Cell when mentioning that Vegeta had been killed by the Androids and not mentioning how Goku died, makes me think that Goku was not killed by the Androids.

Perfectly Piccolo and Krillin may have died hours after Vegeta. Do not forget that in the Lines of Cell and Future Trunks, the Z Warriors did not know of the existence of the Androids and they fought against them, a little after their first appearance.

Cell to know that Vegeta was the first to die, makes me think that Cell saw Vegeta's battle against the Androids and therefore, knows how strong he is. Surely the Cell Embrion of the Main Line, saw the combat of the Z Warriors against the Androids in the Main Line.
