How close was Vegeta to 4th Form Freeza?

Prior to Freeza raising his speed, how close was Vegeta? It seemed to take everything he had to be able to track Freeza's movements/attacks. Not only this, but he was in a completely delusional state of mind due to assuming that he had become a Super Saiyan. How close actually was he?

Freeza had to raise his speed to dodge his hit and move faster than he could see, so not that far.

Wasn’t Vegeta delusional exactly because he managed to get super strong? He didn’t seem to be struggling to see Freeza, though he was pretty nervous about the fight.

I think he was very close... like, more or less, to the same extent he was to 1st form Freeza before the Zenkai. That, or they were dead equals. Vegeta can feel pretty nervous if Freeza is his equal too, as that way, it's still entirely open.

Vegeta also knocks Gohan out of the way from Freeza's death beam, which is an impressive speed feat, showing that even though he was struggling with it, he could avoid them.

He didn't seem cocky and was looking serious at Freeza when Piccolo wondered if he can really do it. It'd be a war. It's also worth noting that Goku notices how strong Freeza really is for Vegeta's power to be declining that fast. So yeah, I think they were very close rivals.

I always considered that Freeza was using only a little bit of more effort using his speed against Vegeta... I mean, their initial attacks were directed at people that can't actually oppose to him. Vegeta is nowhere near initial 4th form Freeza and was delusional with the thought of beating him.

I have: Freezer (High Speed) >> Vegeta (Zenkai Final) >= Freezer (Initial).

Vegeta should be about the same distance as he was against 1st Form Freeza. Vegeta is not a true rival, he is a distant rival.

Vegeta craps his pants much the same as he was doing with 1st Form freeza. Vegeta should be no higher than 90% of Freeza more or less, he has to convince himself he is a Super Saiyan to even get going and he seemingly brags about being able to see Freeza, which Freeza only has to increase his speed a little bit for Vegeta to be unable to see him.

Freeza 125
Freeza 100
Vegeta 90

Vegeta was already going to a tremendously hard battle, most people confuse Vegeta's faux confidence to think they were equals, but as you dig deeper into the text, you'll see the true implication.

I generally do have:

Piccolo : 1,500,000
Freeza (3rd form) : 2,000,000
Vegeta (zenkai) : 3,000,000
Freeza final form (initially) : 3,200,000
Freeza (speed up) : 4,500,000
Goku : 4,300,000

I can make Vegeta and initial Freeza equals, too. Vegeta would have a tough time nonetheless.

It can go both ways, but I think Vegeta sees himself as a SSj due to how strong he got. He looked as his hands, like if he were feeling his own powers and deemed himself a SSj. I don't think he'd do it if he were considerably weaker. He believes himself as the SSj because he thinks of himself as the absolute peak of strength and he is in fact a monster.

As for Vegeta stating "it's not possible this is happening... I'm a SSJ!!!", I don't think it shows he was delusional or putting his entire faith on the fact he thought of himself as a SSj. Rather, it shows that he doesn't believe a SSj can lose. He even wonders for a bit "is it the best I can do? No, I'm a SSj!!". No different from the way he acted in the androids saga. He can't come to the realization ""SSJ" isn't enough. But that doesn't mean his earlier confidence came entirely from the thought he was a SSj... as his strength is what makes him believe he is.

He didn't piss himself. He was sweating and nervous... because he knew it'd be very tough.

He was physically straining himself to do it. Definitely doesn't look like an easy feat by any means.
I think it may have to do with Freeza moving so fast he vanished. Tenshinhan also had a hard time keeping up with Goku in the 22nd Budokai when Goku made a point to move so fast he vanished and that was full match level Goku, more or less. I think when the fighters make it a point to focus their might on their speed and disappear (not literally, just moving too fast), it's tougher to track them. Piccolo Junior also had to concentrate himself for a while and actually pause when Goku disappeared iirc. It takes more effort I guess.

Distant rivals is being extremely generous. The only thing Vegeta manages to do is see furiza's attacks. When he actually attacks furiza he can't even keep up with his movements and has a chi attack at full power kicked away, which is more impressive than furiza blocking kaio-ken x 20 goku's kamehameha with one hand.

The gap is massive.

Yeah, but Freeza increased his speed by then. The fact that Freeza increased his speed points to the idea of Vegeta being rivals.

I think 90% is pushing it a bit for Vegeta vs initial Freeza. That’s on the verge of a blowout.
It should be about the same as it was against 1st Form Freeza. He has generally the same reactions except this time, he has no help.

Also that should be something noteworthy.

The gap between 1st Form Freeza and Gohan and Krillen is smaller than the gap between Final Form Freeza and Piccolo/Gohan. They can't offer any kind of help to Vegeta at this point.

Even Vegeta sends Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin to watch the match.

I always thought that Vegeta was a bit nervous because he still didn't know his 100%.

I have Vegeta over Frieza Fourth Form (Initial), but for a very small difference, since even though Frieza was dodging Vegeta's punches, the latter was still confident. Just when Frieza increased his speed, Vegeta began to get nervous.

I don't think Vegeta's confidence is false btw. It'd be false if he were totally confident and cocky when he can't back that up. The fact he was nervous means he wasn't delusional... means he recognized Freeza's powers. If he were totally blinded by the SSj being the absolute strongest, then there would be no reason for him to show some hesitancy.

We he is somewhat rivaling Freeza's power, that's legitimate power Vegeta has. He should be blowing away 3rd Form Freeza with absolute ease.
