How often increase the power of Goku and Piccolo between EoD

Goku Piccolo states that by taking off his heavy clothes when faced against Raditz, who I trained very hard. Personally I think both doubled their power within those five years. Although we left with chain Kami (DBZ)> Mr. Popo (DBZ)> Tien (BoZ)> Goku (TB23). On second thought, I think the powers of Kami and Mr. Popo were REDCON in DBZ, because it would make no sense to Kami happen to be less than half of Piccolo, to have more than half of its power, in spite that Piccolo trained very hard for 5 years. You think?
