How powerful are the Cell Jr.s?

Cell described Vegeta and Trunks as holding their own, suggesting the Cell Juniors were still stronger. It would only be minimally so though, given one page showed Vegeta fighting dead evenly with one of them. I wouldn't say this being prior to Cell giving the order to kill means much, given the Cell Juniors would still try and bring Vegeta, Trunks and Piccolo into submission like with Goku and the humans beforehand if they were capable of such.

Daizenshuu describes them as both on pair with Vegeta and Trunks and as as strong as Perfect Cell, but Dragon Books say it’s the later.

So it seems like they’re comparable in power to the level Cell used to fight Goku and Gohan, but lacking in fighting ability to a point where Vegeta and Trunks can hold their own.

I'd say the Daizenshuu statement is more accurate to what's shown than the other two sources. Even if they were lacking in skill, fighters of Perfect Cell's level against Goku wouldn't be as externally injured from Vegeta's attack as the Cell Jr. was considering how big the gap between he and Goku is suggested to be at the time.

I meant in the same tier as Perfect Cell, somewhere in between Initial Perfect Cell and FP Cell. Around Vegeta fits the bill and he’s between both those levels.

I think they're stronger than Vegeta and Trunks a lot. Both Vegeta and Trunks have taken damaged during their fight while the Jrs were good as new.
