How significant was Yamcha’s power to #20?

No.19: “No, it is not Son Goku…He doesn’t match the data. There’s a 96% chance this is the human known as Yamcha…”
No.20: “At any rate, we’ll be able to obtain a large amount of energy.”

I’ve been thinking about this quote a bit. Gero thinks Yamcha’s a great power source, and that’s just by analyzing a suppressed Yamcha. How much could he have powered up from his energy? Was it significant in any way?

Likewise, can this be used to imply Yamcha’s a powerhouse, or that Gero isn’t dozens of times above Yamcha, or a bit of both?

The quote itself was pretty meaningless.

Chapter 340 (DBZ 146), P8.6-7
Goku: “I see…But did you spy on the battle on Planet Namek too?”
No.20: “There was no need. By the battle with Vegeta and co., we had already completely grasped your power and techniques. We calculated that no matter how much you improved afterwards, considering your age, you wouldn’t have any increases as enormous as you had before…”

Gero was operating under the idea that the strongest of the Z Senshi wouldn't be dramatically stronger than they were 4 years ago. Going by this, Yamcha would definitely qualify as a large amount of energy. It doesn't have to be either of the scenarios that you listed. We saw initial 19 capable of taking hits from SSJ Goku without breaking, so that alone should be enough proof that the initial Androids aren't anywhere near Yamcha's level.

Yeah, as SSJ2 said, even a suppressed Yamcha of about a few thousand units akin to Galu's suppressed level of 5k would be considered a great energy source when he wasn't expecting anything greater than about 40k and those above just a battle power of 5 would be a rarity. It doesn't really prove anything about how strong or weak Yamcha is after those 3 years, nor would he be of any major significance to #19 or #20 when he'd be at best on par with a guy who's punch #20 tanked.

Maybe Yamcha could also take hits from Sick Goku without being ripped in two :CC

Yamcha was probably more powerful than Frieza if we're going by late 90s hax. This would actually back up the statement, otherwise getting a cool 50 grand is nice even if 200 million is better.
