How strong was Gohan when he started training with Piccolo?

In the Saiyan Saga after being 6 months in the desert. Post a power level based on BoZ levels

He was still capable of doing nothing to Piccolo, though how strong Piccolo had gotten at this point was unknown. The only other thing to base his power on is slicing off a dinosaur's tail, which is old news at that point.

Placing any number on him would be pretty arbitrary when we're not given much reference of how much stronger Piccolo had gotten, though it would make the most sense for Piccolo's major gains to only come about afterwards due to lacking a sparring partner beforehand.

I place Piccolo at 1,000 at that point. Gohan was able to take care of a T-Rex and using ki blast plus surviving Piccolo. I think he should be at least Piccolo Daimao level

The former of which is something even Chichi's helmet could do and using a Ki blast isn't exactly a big threshold of power at this point, since it has more with learning proper Ki control than being something you're able to do when your number gets high enough considering those with less knowledge of Ki control were still able to perform Ki attacks through concentrating their power.
Surviving against Piccolo isn't much of a feat when Piccolo wasn't fighting against him seriously and killing him at this point would put those 6 months to waste.

Well, then he's less than 5. Then he increases to roughly 1200 from then.

He's talking about at the very start of the training for that rating (ie. back when Piccolo kidnapped him).

It’s extremely arbitrary, not to say irrelevant to assign him a number. He’s definitely grown stronger, but still can’t do much to Piccolo. It’s unlikely Piccolo grew much stronger during those initial months, so I’d say Gohan’s well below the 300 BP here, but at least as strong as someone like BoS Chi-Chi, who had the strength to decapitate a dinossaur.
