How're the NGE movies?

How are they and how do they stack up to the series? Better or worse? I wasn't overly fond of the series, so should I stay away?

If you don't like the series already, the movies aren't going to change anything.

Far worse, as they remove what depth the series had in favour of pandering to the otaku with far more shipping scenes, a worthless new character and giving Asuka an eyepatch just to appeal to some trends. That is, unless you're talking about the movie End of Evangelion, which offers a solid conclusion to the original series.

Yeah, I meant the movies that are remade of the series. But yeah if it's worse, no point for me to bother then.
