"I can take over the entire world!"

Is anyone else pulled out of a captivating show when the idea of taking over the world is pitched? For instance, YGO is pretty lolworthy with characters thinking they can take over the world because they're the best at a children's card game. I love the show, but I can't take any of that takeover shit seriously. It's the same in Cardfight Vanguard.

What other anime can you think of where taking over the world will supposedly be achieved by being the best in a totally innocent activity/sport?

To be fair, most of the YGO villains in the original series also had the Millennium Items to back them up.

I guess B-Daman was another one in this line. People trying to take over the world via a game where they shoot balls out of a figure makes YGO villain ideology seem as solid as Einstein's theories.

Bakura's claim to destroy the world isn't that ridiculous if you consider his connection to Zorc I guess... the extent to which the other villains think they are empowered by owning virtually priceless cards in a children's card game was pretty lol-worthy I guess. Moreso in filler arcs where they could create "real monsters" or whatever the feck.
