Dabura (Suppressed vs Gohan) was at least on SPC level, Vegeta was confident of defeating him very easily. Goku SSJ2 was much more powerful than Vegeta SSJ2 (Pre Majin). Also consider that Majin Vegeta SSJ2 considered Dabura and Fat Boo (Initial) trash. In addition Majin Vegeta SSJ2 spoke of how invincible they 2 (Goku and Majin Vegeta) were.

Surely Kid Gohan had a great surge of anger when he finished off Cell.

Yeah, SSJ2 Goku > SSJ2 Kid Gohan > SSJ2 Vegeta > SPC > SSJ2 Teen Gohan is how the chain goes basically. Cell is a joke lumped with the likes of Dabra, while Gohan is a respectable measuring stick.
