Studio Ghibli, who'd out-do who?
One-Piece Stampede is breaking records from what I've heard, but Studio Ghibli films never not reach the top spot at the box-office in Japan when they release, even with big foreign films (like maybe Avengers for example) releasing at the same time. They even manage to stay on-top for over a month or so at-times. They are like unbeatable at the box-office in Japan. One-Piece is also huge though.
So what if they were to go head-to-head in Japan? For this thread, let's say they release on the same day. A One-Piece movie and a movie directed by the meng himself, Hayao Miyazaki. Obviously it won't just be a random One-Piece movie, but one that get's the promotion and hype like Strong World did. Especially emphasising the fact that Eiichiro Oda is involved or even wrote the movie. Which one'd secure the top spot?
How about we say that in numbers, like for example SG film takes in 60% of the box-office collections, OP movies takes in 30% of the collection, rest of all films showing at the time all lumped in together take a mere 10% of the collection. Just an example, but that'd be interesting way of answering.
Scenario 1 - No other big film releasing at the time.
Scenario 2 - Super-Hero film, like Avengers opens at the same time in Japan.
