The Great Elder said Kami-Sama was a prodigy of the Dragon Clan when Kuririn took Dende to his house:
Chapter: 265, P.10
Context: talking to Kuririn
Great Elder: "It must have been the child of Katatz [Kami-Sama]. I'm surprised... I'd not have thought an infant could have traveled safely so far. But then, he was a scion of the Dragon Clan... those who created the Dragon Balls...

And Piccolo's father was once a only being with Kami-Sama.

Yet, Piccolo reffers to himself as a warrior type in the fight against Nappa:

Chapter: 20, P.3
Piccolo: "Heh... thanks to you, I suddenly have a much better insight into my ancestry... alas for me, however, I did not make the Dragon Balls. My specialty... is combat.

It's also said in the Daizenshuu 4 that a fusion between Namekians requires the two fusers being of the same type, implying Piccolo had to be Nail's type to perform it, who was an "elite type warrior" or so:

Powering up through fusion.
Two Namekians can fuse as long as their types aren't different. This fusion is similar to the merging that comes from using the potara, and once fused the two people cannot return to normal. By deciding who will be the base, this determines who will be in control after fusing. The unique trait is that the fused person's power is absorbed, powering up the person who is the base.

The daizenshuu is bullshit since Dende explicitly mentions Piccolo is a fighter type. Alternatively he couldve fused with Kami only due to his father being the same being as him.

Well, if Piccolo is also a fighter type then he fused with some of his kind (Nail). Not seeing how that makes that Daiz's line BS.

And oh yeah, good point about Dende mentioning that. So better question, why is Piccolo a warrior type if Kami-Sama wasn't?

If the great elder can make fighting types, so can piccolo daimao. He probably chose to make the strongest reincarnation he could, which resulted in a fighting type Namekian.

Piccolo Daimao was probably a Dragon Clan, since he came directly from Kami-Sama, right? It's also said in the Daizenshuu that laying eggs is an ability of the Dragon Clan-types.

Yes but Piccolo Jr. clearly is not a dragon clan member as he can't make Dragon Balls even with knowledge from Kami.

Daizenshuu's bullshit never stop to amaze me. Piccolo's boost was so huge because he was a half being to begin with. Since Nail was from the warrior type and was a strong warrior he could compliment Piccolo's lacking half and that's why the boost was that huge. When he latter fused with Kami, the boost was much smaller (and when I say much, I mean MUCH smaller), which in my opinion was a clear sign that this wasn't something two normal Nameks could perfom.

Wasn't Kami originally a warrior before he decided to watch over the world?

I recall him saying this to Goku. Something along the lines of being a single warrior before expelling the evil that became Daimao. This was obviously before Namekian's were introduced, but still.

I think he just called himself a warrior because as a prodigy he simply possessed extremely high fighting abilities. Piccolo Jr. can't remake the DBs even after fusing with his other half, so he's clearly a different type than the original being that separated Daimao from him.
