If you want to you can 'member that drawing cards (right cards at the right time) is considered a skill in the series and so is I assume luck in a way (unless it was ever brought-up how someone only constantly relies on a gambling deck).

Who wins?

I assume early BC Jonouchi doesn't yet have Gilford or some of the later Battle City cards in his deck, on top of this he might not even have Jinzo so he loses this one, unless they're playing by BC rules in which case Yugi loses due to the fact that his deck isn't built to tribute summon higher-level monsters.

What if Yugi has his start of Battle-City deck?

Also if the both of them were to only have a random deck with no particular cards that could counter each-other, who'd win? So both of them basically playing with a deck they don't even know. Like skill-wise.

Yami Yugi (Start of BC) > Regular Yugi (start of BC) > Jonouchi (BC) imo. In the manga Jonouchi repeatedly lost even to regular Yugi after Yugi went to the hospital when there was that fire in Ryuji's game shop.

Yeah, I do remember that but I just meant as in DK Yami Yugi could use start of Battle-City deck.

In the manga Yami Yugi didn't really do anything between the end of DK and the beginning of BC, in fact even the Dungeon Dice Monsters duel against Otogi Ryuji was fought by regular Yugi in the manga.

Yugi still wins. Up until the top 8, Jonouchi's deck still relied too heavily on luck-based cards, which is way too much of a gamble to pull off a win.
