I have always think it's 2x, but how about this?

Chapter: 265 (DBZ 71), P3.4-5
Context: the Great Elder reads Kuririn’s mind and learns of God and Piccolo.
Great Elder: “Hmf! He split in two, long ago…after evil entered into him! How foolish… He diminished by half the genius power with which he was gifted at birth! If he had come back together as one, he might not have had to die…”

How could a hypothetical Kamiccolo beat up Vegeta if the boost was only 2x? It could be a potential thing or something like that?

Being able to beat Vegeta isn't the same as not being killed. He also didn't seem too sure what would happen either way.

Piccolo was under 2,800. Had the Kamiccolo be only 2x, he would end up at ~5,000. Vegeta would easily kill him.

The fusion was always going to be as great as the plot demanded it be.

In the same statement, he said they diminished by half. There's no real way to know what he means because his words don't make sense when looking at the levels.

But in the same statement he implied the boost to be 2x, Guru said a hypothetical Kamiccolo might be able to defeat Vegeta.

Guru knows virtually nothing about how powerful Vegeta was or at what level Piccolo was at during the Saiyan arc.

He read Kuririn's memories, so he could be able to tell how strong they were.

He'd also have sensed Vegeta during his fights against Dodoria and Zarbon. Kuririn even said it was the same Saiyan that's on Namek.

The Original Nameless Namekian is stated to be stronger than Freeza.

Oh, true. I have no idea then.

I have a theory...
The Kami Goku met was way weaker than he'd been in his youth. When Nameless Namek split, his power was
shared equally between Kami and Piccolo.
The Piccolo that was released by Pilaf was severely weakened not only because of his age but also because he'd
gotten rusty. If 7 years of slacking off affected Gohan's power that much, imagine how badly being immobilized
in a jar for centuries could affect you. Shenron gave him back the power he'd lost by getting old, not the power
he'd lost by slacking off. That explains why Kami was stronger than Piccolo, since Kami hadn't been totally
slacking off. It also explains (for what it's worth) the filler scene Goku gets outmatched by Mutaito.
All in all...

Vegeta~Nameless Namek>Young Kami=Young Piccolo(past)>Old Kami>Popo>Mutaito>Goku(post water)~Young
Piccolo(present)>Old Piccolo

Sometimes you make me think really hard.

I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

That's a pretty good theory. Please, show me your numbers for:

Kamiccolo (before split)
Piccolo (right after the split)
Kami (right after the split)
Kami (First appearance)
Young Piccolo (first appearance)
Old Piccolo (first appearance)
