Why are villains usually so retarded when trying to sense ki? Semi Cell needed a beating to know that he'd be no match against Super Vegeta. FP Perfect Cell didn't know he was outclassed by SSJ2 Gohan.

It could be the issue with standing chi and fighting chi. You might not think a 100 pound 15-year-old looks that strong, but then he turns around and benches 300 pounds.

Maybe in the first case.

In the second case, Gohan was already in battle prior...

Unless he somehow has control of when his resting/fighting ki activate.

Vegeta is equally retarded sometimes. I dare say its a product of arrogance, and they don't anticipate how much ki can actually flare up.

Vegetto said that Boo was using his eyes and not actually feeling Ki. Boo must've assumed Potara = Fusion and just thought that he'd be stronger than Vegetto based on what he expected, so he probably didn't feel the need to sense Vegetto's Ki.

Feel the need? Is ki sensing not a natural occurrence? Like when Freeza arrives on Earth, everyone sensed him right away.

I guess it depends on plot. Vegetto explicitly said that Boo was relying on his eyes, so it was not a "natural occurrence" there.

It's not a natural thing for all of them, since they do have to learn it. Most of the protagonists, I mean. Like Vegeta, it comes to him later on.

Funny thing is, they are the ones who use ki sensing more than anyone else.

Characters who can do it naturally don't seem to depend on it very much, which kind of just occured to me as I type this.

Kaioshin, Cell and Boo can all read ki without having to learn the method, and they suck at using it...but Goku and Krillin, who figured it out over time, use that shit to perfection.

Weird. :king

I agree with Southern Gothic. I say it boils down to both skill at its use and the arrogance factor.
