Rey

Kylo is a chump, but no one defeats mistress Sue's plot armor.

TFA Rey would plot armor herself to victory and Darth Vader would have to be saved by a sudden earth split.

TLJ Rey would get stomped. Same for Kylo.

Considering TLJ offers the excuse of Kylo's conflicted mind causing him to get plot nerfed, it's safe to say TFA MaRey Sue's not taking on full power Kylo or Vader without extreme plot armour. The pair of them get trashed in both scenarios. Considering how Luke acted at the end of the duel, I doubt he was going all out against Kylo, especially when he was just a Force Projection. Hell, it's even arguable if Luke was as strong as Vader, given how long he'd been out of action for plus even in RotJ, he only beat a conflicted Vader once he started tapping into the Dark Side.

Vader crushes both scenarios. There's no evidence that either Kylo or Rey had any major power ups over the course of TLJ. We know they seem to be on par with each other, but beyond that I don't see any way they are even close to Vader's level.

Rey definitely made major improvements due to actually learning how to control her power, since Ren's performance being written off as a plot nerf from his conflict means TFA Rey doesn't have to be that powerful. Kylo Ren (Full Power) ~ TLJ Rey >>> TFA Rey > Kylo Ren (Unbalanced)

I agree that neither are on Vader's level though, seeing as how Vader's power was what Kylo was working towards and even doubted he could ever be as strong as Vader in TFA. The only thing to suggest otherwise would be Luke saying he'd only seen such raw strength in Ben and Rey, but I believe he was definitely only speaking in context to this exercise he provided his Padawans. I don't see Force Freeze as being a solid indication of Ren's strength either, given it being learnt from Snoke could easily mean it was a technique he invented himself in the Unknown Region.

The team have a chance against AotC Anakin, considering Kylo's strength in the Force is described as "Immense" and Rey rivals him, though it purely depends on the battleground. If it's in a ranged space, Kylo could probably have Rey distract Anakin, use Force Freeze and have Rey deal the finishing blow. In a close quarter fight where Lightsaber combat is the only option, Anakin still wins given his performance against Dooku was significantly better than Obi-Wan's, regardless of Djem So being more effective on Makashi. I highly doubt Ren's on par with one who rivals most Jedi Masters, considering his best solid feat was slaughtering a dozen or so Padawans with help from a few other turned students, plus Luke didn't seem to be trying to fight him seriously and was just buying time at the end of TLJ.
