Acknowledging that these are different from main series Pokémon, are they any good?

Visually it was nice to see Kanto in 3D, but that's about the only positive that comes to mind. I wasn't a fan of wild battles being removed in favour of a Pokemon Go style catch system. Felt cheap.

Yeah, as SSJ2 said, they're mainly just easy games created solely for newcomers who got into the series through Pokemon Go, with the elements added taking away challenge as much as most of Gen 8 did (the only exceptions being some post-game battles), also going many steps back by removing abilities just to bank on Gen 1 nostalgia for the long-standing portion of the fanbase willing to buy them. It also doesn't help their timeline is very confusing. You still need to beat Giovanni and all that, yet Red, Blue and Green (the trainers, not the games) have all established themselves as veteran trainers already? :wtf

It's a nice little novelty game but the actual gameplay is as boring as Gen 1. The Pokemon following you around at first is cool but you get over it fast. I just wish they left some stuff like abilities in. Or added the Sevii Islands or something.
