I am about to get into this series. Would you guys recommend me the manga or the anime?

I am reading the first chapter at MangaSee btw (if you guys say the anime is worth it though I will go to it) and it seems it's read from left to right, rather than the right-left common in the mangas... is that right?

Yes. It's one of the best manga out there for it's attention to historical accuracy and depth of it's main cast, even though it can be quite episodic at times. Ashita no Joe and Battle Angel Alita are better manga though imo.

There is no anime. The only adaption it got was a live action TV series which, whilst good from what I've heard, isn't a full adaption.

Yes. The scans were taken from the Dark Horse Comics release of the series, which flipped the panel layout to fit more with the western comics it primarily produced.

I see, thank you for the input. Also, at MangaSee, there's a New Lone Wolf and Cub, divided in volumes... do you know what this is about? The story does also begin in a different way, whereas the manga I am reading begins with some guys (still don't have that much information about who they are) trying to kill Lone Wolf's child, with him faking a defeat to get into the castle, as well as being hired out to kill some enemies that are in the way of whoever hires him, receiving money in exchange.

I am finding it tough to understand sometimes due to the usage of terms I am not familiar with, so it's hard to follow sometimes.

New Lone Wolf and Cub is the sequel, set some time after the finale of the original manga. Not sure how it compares to the original, though it's lack of popularity and comparatively short length may be an indicator.

Assuming the entirety of each volume is scanned, there will be a glossary at the end of each one. Alternatively, you could just google some of the traditional/historical Japanese phrases associated with it, or ask what a few of them mean in this thread.

Okay. I'll use this thread as an "ahill reads Lone Wolf and Cub". Any observation or doubt I might have will be posted here.
