Well I thought they were silly from the get go. Water/Flying/Fire/Grass are the basics with the four elements. I would complain to why Rock & Ground are 2 separate types but I don't have a good argument for that. Dragon Pokémon aside from a weakness to Ice/Themselves from Gen. I-V seemed like the beat all with a resistant to most commonly used types in the game.
Dark-Types aside from being created to balance out the ridiculously OP Psychic types seem kind of pointless to me.
Dragon
Water
Electric
Fire
Grass
Psychic
Flying
Seem fine to me but the rest just seem iffy to me.
Normal is definitely necessary. It's like Raki in Kureiromo (come bak jakjak....still gonna be saying this in 5 years if he hasn't come back and everyone else hasn't disappeared and obv conditions), Usopp in Bleach....I mean OP....Shinpachi and Yamazaki in Gintama etc. Without Normal how would us humans relate to the Pokemom story?
They also remind kids that you can have a tongue hanging out of your mouth, be super fat and asleep on the road naked or even have 3 heads but that no matter what bullying and ostracism you face, Nintendo will never call you abnormal.
I agree that Normal type is necessary. I would also agree that Fairy type is the most unnecessary type; that and Rock. I don't see why Rock and Ground would need to separate typings.
