DB has lots of gods and they help the Z Shenshi many times. So who's god that helped them a lot or made a huge impact?

Without king kai,Goku gets clobbered by vegeta and probably nappa
Elder kaioshin.Buu kills everything
Withuot Whis Vegeta and everyone gets killed in a planet explosion

-Kami helped once, to train Goku. At 23rd TB, his presence was just a nuisance.
-King Kai helped to train Goku, to tell them where Namek is, to activate the balls
and (unwillingly) to sacrifice himself to save the Earth from Cell.
-Beerus and Whiss were semi villains, they were the ones that caused problems
heroes needed help for.
-Kaioshins being helpful? The answer to that is...

As far as the plot goes, Kaio-sama by far, seeing as he not only offered training for Goku and the rest, but also supplied them useful information even as far as into the current story.

As far as uses from an ability perspective, it'd be Elder Kaioshin due to the potential unlock. Sure, Whis' training will get you to God Ki tier, but if you're talented enough, Kaioshin ritual + training will do that for you, as seen with Gohan.

It's gotta be Whis IMO. He also helped Goku to turn into SSjinG when everyone were confused on why Goku failed to turn into SSjinG at that time, he also helped Vegeta to caught up Goku who was like 20x stronger than him pre Whis training, he help them to defeat Freeza, he helped to find Zamasu who was similar ki with Black [anime at least].
