20th anniversary of Duel-Monsters & Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise as we know it in-general.

It hasn't been that long since Vrains premiered though. Can't imagine it'll end already. Could this be a remake of the original series, or at least the Memories arc (which was animated and adapted terribly in the original)?

2 years I think. Maybe the reception's been bad or more likely they just want to get VRains over with so they can focus on the anniversary and new anime.

I think that's definitely like that this could be a sequel or maybe even a remake of the original. I don't know whether they could fill-out an over year long series with one arc but then again maybe the length of the series won't be fixed like the other spin-offs have been before. Even the original composer is coming-back so yeah I think changes of a possible remake or sequel are likely.

I doubt they'll be able to make a sequel of the original series, considering the Darkside of Dimensions movie did just that and it already kind of tied up all the loose ends (the Ring and Puzzle were both destroyed, Atem and Yugi said goodbye, etc.). Although, as long as money talks I can't imagine they'll be above milking the show, and the DM series has always been more popular than its sequels. Only problem I can foresee is the fact that if they remake the original show they can't make many new cards, and the Yugioh anime is as much of an advertisement for the card game as the Pokemon anime is for the Pokemon game franchise.

Yeah, not only that but all the bullsheeeeet new complicated mechanics. Will they go with the old mechanics again? Come to think of it, what did they do in DSoD?

And yeah a sequel might not make sense anymore but like you said money talks. Even-though after seeing DB-Super I've sort-of been careful what I wish for, as long as the original creator is involved intimately with the series and they do it justice I wouldn't have a problem.

I honestly hope they do a more faithful adaptation of the manga than anything else, considering that cutting out the first 7 volumes of the manga and condensing the events to like two replacement episodes in the DM anime did a disservice to the character backstories established early in the manga... but since there were only like 3 card games in the early manga I doubt they'll do that. At best we'll see a remake of the DM anime, and more likely, a sequel maybe bridging the DM and GX animes together similar to how Super bridges the Boo arc and the Oob epilogue.

Yeah, Jonōchi & Honda's backstory was just kind-of glossed over sort-of to the point it just made them almost look like nearly harmless bullies.

And yeah since this is an anime anniversary I'd think the same.

Yeah Jonouchi in the manga was a gangster that hung around this asshole dude who was literally electrocuting people and shit. In the anime all we really see is him getting his ass kicked by that 6'7" tall bully and picking on Yugi and stuff.

Either way, I think the new anime will have something to do with the original DM series as the Yugioh metaseries has basically turned to "oh look new summoning method and some new gayass protagonist! How many sequels has it been now?" more than anything else, and the success of the DsoD movie showed the DM anime is still more marketable than any other YGO series.

And even that was shown in still-shots rather than a full-fledged flashback sequence l0l.

Yeah, it's clear that the original is the only one, most people (as in casual fans too) care for.

Yeah, when I was a kid I was a big fan of the original series until that dumb Waking the Dragons arc, and I still never watched more than a handful of GX episodes much less the rest of the metaseries. The DM anime is definitely the king of the Yugioh franchise and if it's going to be a 20th anniversary, then it's all the more likely that this will be connected to it somehow.

Hopefully we'll get some of the music from the original series in there as-well like the black magician's theme or jonōchi's theme & others.

Hopefully they re-release the OST too. That was EPIC.

For the 20th anniversary they're going to finish dubbing GX and remaster it. That's it, which is still good since it was never finished back in its heyday, but I was hoping for more Duel Monsters era with those characters and soundtrack.

This is for the 20th anniversary for the original, so maybe you could see this getting dubbed eventually.

That's a re-mix of the God's theme, right?! I did hear the movie did a few re-mixes of the original.

I still think Jonōchi Netsuki Omoi is the good (like untouchable) music though.

I seriously hope we don't get some weird cross-over with all the series. That'd be the worst.
