How powerful were they? I haven't read the first 3 volumes in quite some time, so I don't recall. I know they are above initial Krillin, but how about initial Goku?

Idk manga but anime there's no way of knowing. Krillin was bullied by them and then wooped them completely. They were either bullying or getting stomped and nothing happened in between from which to gauge their BP.
edit: only thing to go off of is how impressed Krillin was with Goku's power

like kuririn, for example, not rly respecting goku (like he did the oorin-temple seniors) even after he defeated him easily

u could say that it has a lot of factors, like goku not being a monk or wtvr

but i still think that's some decent evidence

he never said anything indicating that "wow, u are stronger than even them" & when he saw them at the tournament he said they should back-out (i think), even to goku

he could be saying that bcoz of his low confidence, but still

You said Goku <Orin though. Yet all your evidence was against that. There's no way he was weaker at the start his Kame training than at the start of DB, even if he'd lost his tail.

And separately as far as at the 21st goes I just put it down to Krillin being scared because they bullied him so he was unsure of himself. But if you think that wasn't why he wasn't convinced Goku could beat them then you're also insinuating that BoDB Goku (with tail)> 21st BT Goku (without tail), which makes no sense because there's no way the tail could make him that much stronger that it's worth more than his training with Roshi.

I don't know. I never really thought about it, but 10 as a number, especially if the Farmer being 5 was taken into consideration, does seem too low for Goku. A lot too low (I know that sentence doesn't really make sense).

What do you mean?

Do you mean taking into consideration the Beginning of DragonBall Z numbers, too? It could make it even harder to potentially fit everything in, but it might be better anyway to make a separate-scale for both DragonBall & DragonBall Z.
