Inspired by the Renegade Platinum thread. What are some cool, impressive, fun Romhacks that you've played?

I just started RP, and while I'm impressed with the changes, there's not a whole lot here that's custom, as in, custom Pokémon, types, stories etcetera. I wasn't expecting that, but at the same time I'm interested in playing games like that.

Another one that seems interesting is Uranium. It seems to use HG/SS as a base (at least visually) but is entirely original.

Haven't played any myself due to most of them not being compatible with my version of Windows, though from what I've seen, Pokemon Clover is a must-play with how much of a 4chan meme collection it is. The fact that you can have a Pokemon battle with Chris-Chan alone is enough to place it high up on the list.

Team Rocket Edition is another good FRLG romhack that has a more innovative story than the entire franchise, being a deconstruction of Gen 1's plot that allows you to play as a Team Rocket member and steal Pokemon.

On the subject of FRLG romhacks, whilst not really a Pokemon game, it's worth mentioning on a DB forum there's a romhack replacing Pokemon with DBZ characters called DBZ Team Training. It's pretty good, though you need to make sure you get the most updated version to have the most experience out of it, albeit, the power creep has become a bit insane with the stats for MUI Galu and Jiren.

Oh dude, you played that one too? I literally finished it three weeks ago.

Unfortunately haven't played it myself for reasons mentioned at the start of my post, though I've seen the playthrough done by the guy who's Renegade Platinum video Mystic showed in his prior thread.

I remember when Team Rocket Edition was in beta. Never knew it was finished.

Bought a GBA flashcart a while ago. Hopefully I can play some on a GBA.

Pokemon Crystal Clear is an open world hack of Gen 2. Not too common (open world AND Gen 2) so that sounds interesting. A lot of hacks are Gen 3 and barely any are open world.

Some other ones that I've heard of over time are Prism, Gaia, Glazed, Blazing Emerald, Zeta, Dark Rising, Ash Grey. Uranium was already mentioned. Haven't played too many of them myself but these are generally well-received.

There was one based around Mewtwo Strikes Back, don’t remember if it was ever finished. Another one that was fun is Crystal Enhanced. Boosts up the difficulty of gym battles, trainers and changed all the available Pokémon for each route.

I have emulators for GBA, DS and 3DS, so I've played some for almost every Gen. Can't remember too much right now, but I really enjoyed the Soul Silver romhack I played. There's an Alpha Sapphire one I really enjoyed too.

I mainly just enjoy the ones that make most Pokemon catchable since it's a single player only experience. Having the levels scale up (80+ by Elite Four) is a plus too.
