So yeah, it seems these are a thing now. What're your thoughts on these? Do you believe they'll be sequels or alternate timeline versions of S&M? Do you believe they'll add much to the plot and lore of Gen 7, which seemed somewhat limited in exploring it's region, or do you believe they'll just be a cashgrab to show off some new forms?

Discus... :autism

Mmm, I feel like it'll be very similar to Sun and Moon, but worse.

I kind of thought it was going to be like a sequel akin to BW2, but I think it's supposed to be an alternative thing. I'd honestly prefer the sequel route, heck I didn't even think we'd get more games this soon. I was expecting the rumored Gen 4 remakes honestly.

Trials are light years ahead of Gyms. I never want to see a Gym ever coming back.

I could honestly go both ways on gyms and trials. Both have their faults.

Pokémon get more EXP form gyms, than trials one thing that disappointed me about SM is that battles with Trial Captains are optional. First time playing I kept asking myself are the captains going to fight me only to be disappointed that they didn't, than when I saw you CAN battle them, I was disappointed because all of their teams are kind of bad. The only captains that was per se a challenge were: Illima (Due to a few pokemon being available at that point), Acerola, and I guess Mina. The Totem Pokémon and Grand Trials are more challenging.

However Trials are more fun than Gym Battles. I'm a blood knight, so I like to fight as much as I can, but the adventures in the trials were fun (Mainly Mallow's Trial) and the Totem Pokémon are ESPECIALLY challenging (Really only Salazzle and Lurantis are a challenge the others aren't so bad).

So apparently, the story will be twice as long as Sun/Moon and it seems like we'll get some good post-game features, such as the ability to catch a few Legendaries from older Gens similar to in ORAS.

Do you need to have played S/M to understand the new game?

No. It's been confirmed it'll be an alternate timeline version much like Emerald or Platinum.

So, it's gone completely fanservicey by bringing back the evil team leaders of Gens 1-6 under the Team Rainbow Rocket. Not keen on the name due to it sounding like what a gay man might call his dick, or the roster making it seem like a Legion of Doom ripoff, but at least we get to see Giovanni controlling Mewtwo.
Also seems that the Ultra Wormholes will allow you to encounter all the Legendaries from the first 6 Gens (not Event Mythical Pokemon like Mew or Jirachi though), with some being dependant on which game you're playing such as Lugia/Ho-Oh or Kyogre/Groudon. Basically Mirage Islands 2.0. Pretty nice for those who want to catch them all, or those who just want another one of those Legendaries for nature hunting or bragging rights.

The Ultra Beast mission sucked, XY's post game quest looked good by comparison.
