While reading the manga, I never got the impression that Super Saiyan Gotenks was all that much more powerful than Base Gotenks. Heck, pretty much every situation after Namek does not feel like a 50x boost. It's tough because things don't scale to how AT drew it. The powers don't feel massively different, because at this point, he probably lost all sense of numerical values.

Base feels a lot stronger post Namek than is given credit for. If we were to rewrite it, it would probably be a different story.
