So I’m through 27 chapters rn so imma make a thread

I feel like this manga is certainly drop-able but there are a few ok aspects to it so far.

First of all wtf is kagune? Kaneki looks like an insect when his is activated. I dislike pretty much all of the characters at this point so hopefully they experience growth and development.

Kaneki and Toka are currently fighting the ghoul investigators. Idk why they are so overpowered being standard humans lol.

Why are a ghoul’s eyes black sometimes and human looking others?

So Toka killed the one insane looking ghoul hunter and pulled off his glove - revealing what looks like a wedding ring. For some reason this is shocking to her, as if it’s bothering her that she killed a married man. Am I reading this wrong? Why the fuck would she care? The guy wants to nuke your entire race lmao! Such idiocy!

This manga is giving me a Gantz sort of vibe, and it feels pretty similar in its objective quality at this point.

Meta answer - The series' internal logic is as bad as Bleach's.
In-Universe answer - Practically anyone's guess is as good as each other's.

Also, have you read the manga Parasyte? If not, I'd recommend dropping TG and reading this instead if looking for something actually good, seeing as how Tokyo Ghoul at it's core is a poorly written Parasyte knockoff with additional edginess and Shonen tropes equivalent to Part 2 Naruto's bs.

He did, though it reveals virtually nothing major about Hisoka's history beyond working in a travelling circus at some point, plus Togashi hasn't specifically confirmed it as canon.

Still probably better than anything else he's produced though.

His art is even the same quality as Togashi's usual work in that chapter as well, it's a perfect spin off.

I watched the anime in full which was pretty much abominable, the manga is apparently better/the anime apparently butchered the manga, but from what little I read I wasn't impressed

There's honestly no real difference, at least for the first season. The anime simply cut out a lot of the dead time that was doing absolutely nothing but bog down pacing and hide it's true quality (of lack thereof) from the audience when both have the same execution of their major plot threads.

So far this isnt the worst. The manga has an incredibly dark tone at times which I find to be a nice change of pace. From what I've read on the comments from each chapter, the anime omits a lot of the things that make this manga worthwhile to me.

I'm at the part just after Kaneki escapes from the torture chamber that Yamori guy was keeping him in. Lol eating his kagune to gain power was pretty half assed and I was hoping the Anteiku guys would have saved him, so that's my only real complaint with this arc (?).

This pretty much signals in the power creep of the series and breaks a lot of it's continuity going forward, since not only does it raise the question of why other Ghouls weren't using this convenience to become top tier, but also leads to what's basically the edgelord equivalent of getting Zenkais.

Finished Osaka Ghoul. Kinda wanna look into the sequel just to see if they shed more light on the ending, but it turned pretty trash. 4/10.

The sequel doesn't really offer much at all other than Kaneki getting laid and flower symbolism for the fanbase to pretentiously analyse. Even those that liked the original found the sequel to be .
