Vegeta's statement implies Reacoom lost no power or stamina from taking the attack, so he still wrecks without Gohan's plot dependant rage boosts.

Context: Vegeta attacked Recoom all out, but it had little effect.
Gohan: “H-he hardly took any damage…”
Recoome took no damage from Vegeta's assault
Zarbon is also a lazy fuck who's only faced opponents vastly beneath himself and barely had to work for any of his wins. As he said himself, it had been a lon~g time since he ever had to use his monstr form. Which means he'd do way worse than Vegeta as far as raw fighting goes.
And Gohan caps at 20k going by his anime Masenko reading. At best he'd be tanked by Recoome.

They put up a better fight, but ultimately get wrecked. Vegeta is a far better fighter than Zarbon and did jack shit to Recoome and Gohan is only half as strong as Recoome.
I think even if you change Gohan for Vegeta the duo still loses.
