Why does Roshi neglect to teach Goku so much? I find it contradictory that he claims that he can’t teach a Goku any more after the RRA arc (iirc), yet never even taught him anything about fighting?

Against Yamcha in the 21st he tells him he has xcess movement:

So obviously Roshi has a good understanding of technique. I just find it funny that Popo is disgusted by Goku’s wasted movements, but Roshi claimed there was nothing more to teach Goku. Any explanation or is Roshi just a poor teacher?

I think Roshi just had nothing to teach cuz Galu had surpassed him prior to his Super MANLY GAINZ.

True, but I still feel like he could have delved into technique, attacks, etc. It seemed like he taught Goku absolutely nothing. He made him stronger and that was it. For a supposed master of martial arts, he seemed to know Jack shit.

Considering the nature of Roshi's training, it may be that he doesn't consider technique and movements to be something one can completely master without proper experience in battle. This would explain why he considered there to be nothing more to teach Goku since he may not consider mere sparring to be the best way to learn, plus it'd be hard for Goku to benefit when having far surpassed Roshi in terms of power.
That, and Roshi didn't want to train 3 students at once.

Master-Roshi is not the ultimate end all, be all in martial-arts even on earth. Easy to understand as that. To the general public he was, but even Master-Roshi himself only gained his experience and lessons from other teachers like Karin. He knows a-lot for a human, but Mr. Popo and deities know a-lot more.

Probably because he was impressed by Goku's ability to learned and adapt during that fight at 21st Budokai which made Roshi thinking that Goku can just do it by his own.

Because Roshi was originally never an almighty martial artist who was light years more skilled than Goku, and the main cast. Goku duelled him to a stand still when he was 12 in the 21st martial arts tournament, when Roshi was hiding behind his alias of "Jackie Chun".

Roshi being a "super skilled" martial artist was just Toyotaro being a shit writer who doesn't understand Roshi's character, and inflates his importance and his worth at the cost of ruining years worth of story.

Another thing that Goku kept Roshi's advice is to fight another not just to win but to test himself which is what Goku's been doing but overdid it. :troll

I don't remember that at all, but from what I've remembered is that Goku focused more on battle power than instinct?

That's DragonBall Super. It can't really be taken seriously in any form besides most of the manga. The series retcons everything.

Nope. The manga basically said that Goku was obsessed with power and beating his opponents. It was character assassination.
