Saiyan saga Gohan

How strong do you think Gohan's true Base power is during the Saiyan saga? Not his enraged power, but his true maximum. I'd have to think he's not far off from Krillin considering both he and Piccolo entrusted blasting Nappa to Gohan. Considering Gohan was clearly not enraged there, is that ample evidence that he is very close to them?

When Gohan puts his mind to it, he surpasses Piccolo.

I think putting his mind into it = getting enraged. His power was never very impressive for me other than his latent power.

Well, he's already at 981 for starters. I don't even try to rate regular Gohan here, nothing of note to really go by.

By the time he arrived on Namek, his full power was comparable to Weighted Kuririn at around 1.5k, so his full, non-rage boosted power would be anywhere in between 981 and 1,500. Even taking into account his lack of battle experience, him not being able to track Yamcha or the Saibaiman at all would have me believe his full power is closer to the low end of this range.
