So, Sanji's gag with women hasn't been received as well lately whilst it functioned as a good gag beforehand.

Why, would you say? More people are criticizing it, maybe because flerting with women is seen differently lately? Or maybe because it has gotten repeptitive? Or is Sanji acting any differently?

It's both the repetitive nature of it and the extremities it's gone to. Back in the early arcs, his flirting was quite light. It's only from Thriller Bark and onwards that it got ramped up to Sanji's attitude towards women either being a full on pervert or a simp, degrading and oversimplifying this attribute of his character. The way it's been used as a constant reaction from him after the timeskip even after the more exaggerated aspects should've calmed down since Fishman Island serves to show the problem with Oda's character writing, being that he'll highlight a specific aspect above others in a way that removes their realism and makes them a complete caricature, much as he did with Nami's love of money long after the Arlong Park events.

Post-TS crew is pretty flanderized imo with the possible exceptions of like Luffy and Zoro from what I remember reading. I think Oda's a lot more self-indulgent these days.

It's the extreme and repetitive nature. Like if him having a nosebleed and losing so much blood he required medical attention had been a one time gag It would have been fine. The fact is basically a flanderized trait at this point is lame.

Like Brooks gags still work, because it doesn't have a detrimental affect on his character or combat ability.

Luffy's amongst the most flanderised, if anything, considering Oda completely walked back on the development and lessons Luffy did and should have learned post-Marineford about being reckless.

^Good point, I did forget about that aspect. Luffy was already so simple a character from the start for most of the story aside from that bit that I didn't think of it.
