Most people don't seem to like the Jinchu arc of Kenshin much, so now that Kenshin is slated to have its final double-film feature (unless they actually decide to adapt Hokkaido-hen ) next year, let's shit on the Jinchu arc and hope that the movies fix most if not all of its problems.
I would say the following reasons are why I disliked the Jinchu arc more than most of the series:
1. Worsening artwork
This goes without saying. The anatomy of the characters became wack in this arc, which is odd to me since Watsuki had previously said he used American comics for reference on musculature and I can draw muscles pretty good despite not even being a professional artist. The art was particularly bad after it devolved into Shaman King/early OP-style faggotry sometime after the first Kenshin vs. Enishi fight.
2. Awful villain characterization
This goes without saying. Other than Enishi and maybe Kujiranami, Watsuki didn't characterize any of the villains as anything but one note faggots who had warped reasons for wanting to kill Kenshin, other than the Yaminobu guys in the flashback - and even then the way the Tsuioku-hen OVA handled their characterization MUCH more tastefully in just an episode or two of screentime shows that they hardly lived up to their potential.
3. Wanking Yahiko
I think the fact that he didn't lose a single fight here (unless you count the one where he had to be saved by Kenshin as a loss) when he had under a year of training and used a fucking Shinai as a weapon says enough. The kid must have had Freeza's tail cock penetrate his momma while she was pregnant to have such good genes for gainz.
4. Every fight ends the same
I don't think there's a single fight Kenshin won in this arc other than that fodder Apocalypse ripoff Kujiranami, where he didn't use his ougi to win. This tendency already existed in the Kyoto arc, but it seems worse here because the enemy characters in this arc are so much worse-written than Aoshi, Sojiro and Shishio. Same with Sanosuke defeating every opponent (or weakening them within an inch of defeat) with Futae no Kiwami or some variation thereof. Aoshi and Saito showed slight variation, but even then they overused their Ougis (especially when Saito said he saved his Gatotsu Zeroshiki for Battosai and should be the last one to overuse it).
5. They had to continue it 20 years later with Shitkaido-hen
