Similar gaps in fights.

Does anyone else agree that all these fights have a similar gap?

1: Taopaipai vs Goku round 2
2: Drum vs Tien
3: Android 18 vs SSJ Vegeta
4: Super Boo vs SSJ3 Gotenks

The most dissimilar one is probably #4 other than that i guess.

I think 1 and 4 have the same gap, and 2 and 3 have the same gap, but that's it.

Drum Vs Ten - 70/100 gap
Android #18 Vs Vegeta - 71/100 gap
Super Boo Vs Gotenks SSJ3 - 98/100 - Super Boo is a bit stronger than Gotenks SSJ3

Later Boo said that he was buying time before Gohan reach, so he didn't intend to take Gotenks too seriously. Boo said only Gohan surpassed him, this implies that Gotenks did not.

Having them as equals also works with the statement but it's mostly preference

No, once Gotenks established he was on par with Buu, Buu became mentally weakened and fought desperately, resulting in Gotenks getting the upper hand.

Boo actually fought better when he was "mentally weakened" so I don't think that has anything to do with it.

When did they ever fight on par? From what I recall, Boo landed like two or three hits (including the mouth blast that only did cosmetic damage to Gotenks).

Yea, Gotenks was indeed outmatching him.

I guess I let that first sequence play too much of a factor. Gotenks continues to push him back more or more throughout the fight.
