So, why did Freeza destroy planet Vegeta?

I just started reading DBS and Beerus says he asked Freeza to destroy the planet. But
that retcons Freeza doing it because he feared the Saiyans. So, what's the real reason?
Maybe he did it for both reasons?

Beerus just made it easier for Freeza to do it. Freeza knew about Boo, so he obviously knew the Kaioshin who pursued him was able to one-shot him too, unless he gets approved by Beers
