Goku from Android Arc against Super Vegeta. No strain issue.

They're both equals imo. Since there's no strain,this battle could go either way.

Without strain I'd think Goku would win, because Goku believes the balance of Super Saiyan 1's slender physique outweighs the bulky forms so at equalized powers I can only assume that'd get in the way to some slight extent.

I had trouble with this at first because they both seem bulky to me. Am I wrong, or is it just the SSJ3 hair and forehead???

By contrast, Trunks and Vegeta are both a lot bulkier in Grade 2 than Grade 1

No, you're right. Between the stamina and change in appearance I think I just lumped it in with the bulky forms without thinking.
