The gap between them is like multifold, so even with the (IMO) relatively considerable boost of Grade 2, Trunkten is still too weak.

Because it's never stated, nor backed up by any feat. As such, it's conjecture.

It isn't.
Base Gogeta has to be at least the same amount of times stronger than Goku's maximum as Gotenks has to be above Kid Trunks.
Since Goku's maximum is far greater than Trunks, so will Gogeta be.
Potara fusion has a far greater effect, but the gap remain the same and I don't think SSJG2 can close the gap between FPSSJ and SSJ3.

What's your point? You're trying to argue that Vegito would be stronger based on Goku possessing SSJ3(and Trunks not) however, Base Gotenks powered up so much on the RoSaT that he became considerably ahead of Super Saiyan Gotenks pre, thus he also surpasses SSj3 Goku by default. Which means that Base Gotenks is capable of much more than SSj3 Goku is.

And Trunten is a lot, a lot stronger than Gotenks.
