Chopper's is the saddest, not by much though.

Nami's is my favourite, Sanji is good for the American/British faggots who waste loads of food all the time. If Sanji was real and omniscient the world population would drop significantly within 5 years. Actually he'd die from hypovalemic shock.

Franky was another one.

Zoro's was good too, despite being the most simple.

They all have strong themes of non-blood family, aside from Brook, Zoro, Usopp and Robin's, but even Zoro was raised by his school.

What about Brook? Dunno about sad, but I think he must have had the toughest of them all. Spending 50 or.so years alone with no exposure to the sun.

I didn't cry. Yeh 50 years is rough asf to think you won't be found. It might not be as tough as going through things with a child's brain and losing your family (twice in Chopper's case) and in some cases not knowing anything else. Brook might have had a fairly painless life to build a foundation on up until then (unlikely though, since almost all the pirates have difficult histories, but we've not been shown his earlier life). Nami had the tough task of having to go out her way to collect money for Arlong. It's not a competition though.

Robin since her past and how it impacted her led to significant character development at Enies Lobby and is one of the few Straw Hat backstories that holds up in terms of their later characterisation, considering how flanderised ones such as Nami ended up being after their main arc was done. That, and the information on Ohara does provide some interesting suggestions about what later reveals may occur.

I think the other straw hats should be more worked on past their own arc. What many get are some lines here and there that are in line with some aspects of their characterization, but not really a full moment that showcases their development.
