Well, Toei followed that up by having Vegeta massively power up and one-up Goku along with his Kaio-ken (when he starts rattling the Earth with his power-up), so this was most likely their way of saying, "See? I also have an attack that powers me up like your Kaio-ken does."

I don't care about inconsistencies, I can watch that Ocean dub all day, every day lol Even years and years later when I finally got my hands on the Westwood dub (the continued Ocean dub that ran parallel to Funimation's version in Canada and the UK), despite all of the production setbacks, the problems that ailed the Ocean dub, I still love watching it. It's kind of like a continuation of DBZ the way that I imagined it as a kid (in terms of the voices).
