Theory: Goku and Vegeta became stronger after Vegetto defused (anime).

I know no such thing is ever mentioned, but think about it. On Namek, it was never mentioned that the boost Krillin got from Guru kept giving him strength, but it was obvious from his fights that that was the case.

Likewise, in the anime, though it's not mentioned, we can assume judging from the fights that both Goku and Vegeta absorbed part of Vegetto's power, maybe because the fusion was supposed to be permanent. That explains why they fared well against Gohan and Gotenks in Buu's body and why Goku could fight evenly with Kid Buu, who's stated to be stronger than Buuhan in the anime.

Why wouldn't they get the boost in the manga? Do you think Toei really thought of this? Or you're just trying to come up with a way for the anime's power levels to make sense?

That is an interesting theory, regarding Vegito being permanent so passing on the power somehow. But wasn't another explanation given somewhere, that it was just a mirage? I think an explanation was given in Super or a Daizenshuu? Unless I'm just imagining it.

That would be a ridiculously huge boost. To go from Fat Buu's level, to stronger than Fat Buu+Gohan. It should also mean that Fat Buu would get annihilated by Kid Buu, if Goku was barely keeping up with Kid Buu despite the huge power increase.

Yeah, if you are going to go the Hax Kid Buu route, it's good to try to rationalize it by saying they split Vegetto's power or something of that nature.

That solves Goku/Vegeta, but unfortunately, you are left with a severely weaker Mr. Buu who needs to be beyond Vegeta. So the Kid Buu Hax just ends up failing even if you try to explain it this way.

You can also make Fat Buu stronger, since he's not the same Fat Buu as before; he now has the full influence of both Kais Kid Buu absorbed. And since Kais' influence acts in crazy and unpredictable ways instead of being an additive boost, let's just say that somehow brought Fat Buu close to Kid Buu's level. That could also explain why everyone, including Gohan, freaked out when Fat Buu showed up, before Goku could explain to them that Fat Buu was now on their side.

Oh really?

Chapter: 295 (DBZ 101), P9.1-5
Vegeta: “We can win! If the 3 of us fight together, we’ll be able to win somehow or another! [ ] It seems that even Freeza hasn’t noticed…These two’s battle power is steadily rising…”

I think that's too vague. Maybe he referred to all the increases he'd felt from them since he met them.

That wasn't because of Guru, just plot aka shit writing.

There's no reason why Kurilin suddenly got stronger after healing from getting stomped by Reac'm. Gohan and Vegeeta got stronger because their Zenkai was gradually making them stronger. Kurilin isn't a Saiyan, so he shouldn't have gotten stronger from healing at all.
