I actually can't believe Namco Bandai are finally making an anime game that isn't just a 3rd rate fighter. Looks like it could be phenomenal.

They actually did a similar OP game with Unlimited World Red, which whilst primarily a fighter, still had plenty of exploration options such as finding specific items or doing options such as fishing.
Seems this game is an expanded version of it with a heavier focus on exploring the world, so it definitely hooks my interest. Still hope it contains some level of a fighting based mode like the previous one did with Colosseum mode so we get the best of both worlds.

It must be hard to implement Devil Fruits into a video game.

No? The characters who ate the fruits gained specific abilities, but few are extremely similar and the similar ones usually don't have equally large roles in the story, so they can just program them into each character as unique movesets.

I mean, there's only 2 characters that specifically use fire, Ace and Sabo. It isn't exactly hard to program movesets into them as they appear in the anime.

I mean more on the balancing side of things. You have to account for devil fruit advantages, haki, techniques, and the fact that some techniques would be hard to properly implement on current gen consoles. Imo at least. I think it would be hard to make it work accurately.

Would it be harder than just programming type advantages in other games though? Like, there's only a few specifically stated type advantages in the show, like Luffy being immune to Enel's lightning or Akainu raping Ace.

Perhaps not, but adding all of what I said into an open world 3rd person combat game just doesn't feel easy to balance properly to me.

Yea, I'm not going to make any assumptions about the combat, I'm just having trouble picturing a video game feeling even similar to the fights in the manga/anime, but I've never played a OP game, so..

Same, I've never played an OP or Naruto game. Thankfully, didn't waste any money on the latter either lol.

I remember playing the first Naruto Play-Station Portable game a long time ago. Actually was good. I'd say the combat in that game was actually good, but then again I only played maybe an hour or two worth of the game, so what do I know.
