I'm genuinely wondering if that would bridge the gap or not. This topic is more about the gap, if there even is one.

I don't think there's a gap between Goku and Vegeta, at least not in FnF (not sure about Super). We know SSJB Goku + Vegeta can beat Beerus, so they must be close in power. Giving Vegeta a potara fusion with Piccolo would give him enough of a boost to take this I think.
