Vegeta's reaction to Goku's SSJ -- is it kinda off?

Veggie, in his laybed, knew Goku had the means to become a SSJ and urged in him the (so he thought) necessary qualities. He knew that THAT way he'd defeat Freeza. Yet he's later shown in distress at the thought of Goku becoming a SSJ and even says, sweating, when Goku turns one in front of Trunks something along the lines of "no wonder he could defeat Freeza!!"... well, no shit? Isn't that what you had always been saying?

I find the anime instance in which Vegeta ressurects, finds Goku as a SSj in front of Freeza and is cool-headed with it, even aiding SSJ Goku to attack Freeza more coherent.

Plus, part of the reason Vegeta helped Bulma and Gohan try to resurrect Galu was because he hadn't seen the SSJ yet and that's why that scene is a huge plot hole.

Well he really had no idea what Super Saiyan was, and without seeing it in person it makes sense that it would be unnerving for him. And as Kenshi said, he had no idea of the extent of Freeza's full power.

I know the anime scene is a plot hole, I'm just saying that it made more sense to me with how sure Vegeta was about the SSJ being what's given to defeat Freeza, plus the fact that he wanted Goku to become a SSJ.

His motives changed after he was revived. He wanted Goku to avenge the Saiyans and become a SSJ because he was about to die. Once he found himself alive again he immediately reverted to wanting to be the strongest Saiyan. I can see why he'd be rattled by Goku's otherworldly power.
