Yeah, the accusations are extremely skewered ones. What "evidence" is used are footage that's heavily edited to fit the narrative of those making the accusations. For example, the girl who claimed Vic touched her and was creepy forgot to mention Vic was also just as physically friendly to the man she was with, not to mention it being at a time he'd spent 5 hours signing autographs. Most of the people accusing him of touching them also don't take into account the cultural difference of how Italians, especially of Vic's generation, are generally more touchy and emotive when it comes to socialising with people.
Also, even assuming some of the allegations are true, it's not as if sexual harassment is a rarity at events where cosplayers often show off a ridiculous amount of skin and the image the NPC media are portraying of Vic is nowhere near the worst case scenario for these kind of events. It's also pretty telling that the assumed "victims" never bothered to go to the police when it happened, when they may have had enough evidence to convict him. Also, got to love that double standard of how Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi talk about respect and being civil, yet go completely totalitarian when it comes to the topic of Vic and anyone defending him.
Real reason for him being thrown under the bus probably has more to do with his religious beliefs and disdain for homosexuality not aligning with Funimation's heavily liberal leanings. In other words, he's been sent to Room 101 for wrong think.
