Was Dabra holding back againat Gohan?

Dabura is arrogant, though I doubt it'd be to the extent he had utter confidence in being able to defeat someone he was struggling against before. He was either holding back by a slight amount, or had faith in being able to use his magic to gain a strategic victory.

It's impossible, he's job is to damage Gohan in order to revive Boo and holding back would be a stupid thing to do. It's like a student is trying to get an A+ but doesn't put an effort into it.

No, he was just being arrogant. He has no reason to hold back against Gohan. His job was very clear, damage Gohan. The fact Babidi got mad at him for not damaging Gohan a lot and he uses his spit show he couldn't get the job done.

Their PLs were about equal, but Dabura's skills are more polished, which is what makes him confident.
Besides, he wouldn't humiliate himself in front of his master saying something like ''i don't know if i

It's also worthy note that Gohan was pretty nervous and making clear he had to get angry to have a chance there, a nice contrast to Dabra being collected and saying it won't be hard to dispose of that trash. Doesn't that make what Dabra said more accurate?

They both were struggling during the fight. Dabura is being arrogant here, since he'd be a moron if he was holding back against Gohan. And Gohan is worried because he was barely keeping up with Dabura, and now Dabura is going to fight with the purpose of killing him. Gohan has to use his real powers to definitely win against Dabura.

Yeah, that makes sense when you remember Dabura tried to use his sword and the spit. Perhaps he's confident because he saw how of a shitty fighter Gohan is. I heavily dunno Gohan is stronger, Dabura's blast even scratched him.

But the way he talked doesn't match with the fight they just had. They were staying pretty even there, Dabra with a slight edge due to his usage of magic and how out of practice Gohan was. You would think that Dabra should be more capable than that for deeming Gohan a trash, wouldn't you?

I don't think so. Dabura from what we saw was extremely loyal to Babidi and would do the best he could to follow out his orders, and his orders were to HURT Gohan and beat energy out of him for Buu and he could barely do that with even Babidi questioning what the hold up was. Dabura seems to forget about the orders since he tries to spit on Gohan (I doubt turning him into stone would help their cause) and straight up try to kill him (Which wouldn't help the cause either). I agree with the general consensus of he's arrogant. He thought he could do away with Buu and look how that turned out and he got the stuffing beat out of him BEFORE being turned into a snack.
