Was Fat Boo at full power against Vegeta?

Generally speaking it's accepted that Fat Boo and Pure Boo are fairly close in power to one another. SSJ2 Vegeta had the chance to fight both of them and he was completely blown away by Pure Boo's power.



You'd think it wouldn't be such a surprise after fighting Fat Boo... So was Fat Boo at full power, or was he holding back in his attacks against Vegeta?

I think Fatty was purposefully taking Vegeta's hits similar to Recoome at the start of his fight against Vegeta. Vegeta's shock at him releasing that explosion attack and Fatty's performance against SSJ3 Goku (even forcing him to deflect his KHH rather than risk colliding with it, damaging the Earth heavily in the process) tells me Boo just played with Vegeta.

Also worth noting is that AT seemed very very burnt out on the series at this point what with him forgetting Gohan was never revived by the Earth DBs and should've been revived by the wish that brought back Vegeta and Dabura's victims even if he had died, the messy power chains in the Babidi portion of the arc and so on

Since Vegeta watched SSJ3 Goku's fight with Boo he should not be so surprised at his speed, it'd be like if he was shocked he was getting stomped by Perfect Cell after watching Goku and Gohan fight him.

Fat Boo never really looked like he was at full power. Even someone as strong as SSJ3 Goku didn't press him much, though Goku admitedly wasn't going all out on Boo either. The two power ups he do don't really look as impressive as Goku's power up to SSJ3 either.

I always thought that was because Vegeta had Majin durability when he fought Fattie, so his blows didn't feel as heavy.

Maybe he went full power when he did that angry kiai that hurt Vegeta. Or maybe he went full power only against SSJ3 Goku. In any case, Vegeta never got even close to damaging Buu.

Buu was still singing and dancing right up to Vegeta blowing himself up.

I don't think he took the fight seriously at any point.

This makes sense, even Merged Zamasu let Goku get a free blast on his stomach and then regenerated from the wound the exact same way as Fatty.
