Didn't Trunks say he never saw them in his timeline? Just 17 and 18.

Yep, even the manga mentioned it.

No, there weren't.

Gohan and Bulma pretty much told Trunks everything. If they were in that timeline, he would've said as much. It was a retcon or the Trunks that diced Freeza is a different Trunks altogether.

Yeah, but Trunks was still a little baby when the androids showed up.

@Evil Vegeta - A different Trunks? I have already read this theory

Yeah, it's a funny theory. I don't actually agree with it.

I guess you could say it was #19 and #20 that appeared on the island, but it still wouldn't make sense. Goku would've been gone, Piccolo wouldn't have been as powerful, and there's no telling if Vegeta even became a Super Saiyan. If the events played out nearly the same, I find it hard to believe Gohan or Bulma wouldn't have shared this.

Yeah. Kenshi has a nice theory that since the androids were released earlier in Trunks' timeline (unlike in the main timeline), they wouldn't be as powerful as they could be if they were released a little after it.

I noticed this when i first read it, but i wasn't here yet. Anyway, i'm pretty sure it was a retcon. In Universe, Trunks and Cell changed things just by being around, that also an argument for why Present 17 and 18 > Future 17 and 18.

I always assumed Gero actually weakened them based on the fact that he awakened them prior and said they weren't following his orders. #18 said it was because they were too powerful, and the Android chart says #18 was "more suppressed" compared to #17. Gero thought he fixed the problem when they were pretending to obey him, saying their power from the reactors was why they weren't able to be properly controlled. The chart also said #17's issue was the emphasis on his power, which as we see, is from the reactor.

Since #18 is "more suppressed", that would indicate that #17's power was likely suppressed at some point. She just had more of her power suppressed.

Maybe in the main timeline, rather than further suppressing the twins' powers, Gero just built #19 and turned himself into an android, explaining why they were weaker in the future.

19 and 20 might or might not have been in Trunkses timeline. If they were the ones that appeared on the island,
the Z fighters could defeat them through similar events.
