Simple question, which those of different taste and experience can give a variety of answers to. How long does an anime or manga have to be to be considered long to you.
Considering the average length on anime today seems to be 12-26 episodes, I wouldn't class anything less than 30 to quantify as slightly long, unless the episodes were far longer than the normal 20-25 minute timeframe. Looking on the medium as a whole though, I wouldn't class anything below 50+ episodes as qualifying as long, with even those beyond that only seeming mildly long. To me, an anime would have to be 100+ episodes, give or take, to qualify as a truly long series, especially considering there were quite a few of that variety during the 70s and 80s.
For manga, things get a bit difficult to tier. Looking at the average length of mildly successful titles in Shonen Jump, it seems that a length of 18-20 volumes is fairly average overall. From that, I'd say any series from 25+ volumes would count as mildly long, with those of truly great length starting at about 35 or 42 if looking at the average for manga in which the anime had 100+ episodes when well paced (eg. HxH's current 33 volumes being adapted into 148 episodes).
